Renowned Scottish DJ Will Atkinson is to ditch the decks and jump on the clippers as he plans to shave his head live for Nordoff Robbins
Glasgow-based DJ & producer Will Atkinson is making a bid to raise thousands for Nordoff Robbins with an exclusive live-streamed sponsored head shave: The Last Shave on Earth.
Will, whose debut album Last King of Scotland was released in November last year, has set out to raise money for, and awareness of, a charity close to his own heart as an artist. Nordoff Robbins is the UK’s largest music therapy charity and strives to enrich people’s lives through music, including those facing life-limiting illnesses and disabilities.
On top of the fundraiser itself, the Orkney-born producer and former Radio 1 resident will be donating his hair to the Little Princess Trust. The Little Princess Trust is a charity that provides free, real-hair wigs for young cancer sufferers, as well as funding pioneering, life-saving research into childhood cancers.
Will Atkinson said: “After such a turbulent and disappointing year, I want to leave as much of that behind and kick start 2021 with some positivity. Instead of me hitting the decks, my locks will be.
“Music has pulled me through some of the toughest times in my life. There are so many amazing charities but the message of Nordoff Robbins resonates so strongly with me. Whether by enriching the life of someone fighting a life-threatening illness, helping someone through isolation – or even helping someone remember the first dance at their wedding. Where words fail, music speaks.”
The live stream will broadcast from SWG3’s iconic outdoors events space from 3pm on Sunday 31st January via Will’s Facebook and YouTube pages with donations encouraged via Just Giving: https://bit.ly/2LPAejZ.
