Single Review

TIN GUN – Devils and Angels – single release

Bands are often described as mysterious but in the case of TIN GUN this is definitely the case. There are possibly three members of the band although that might be a smokescreen in their artwork. The only thing we know with any certainty is that Peter Steer is a member; he might be the only member! Anyone familiar with the UK electro scene will know or heard of Peter from such projects as Tenek and Sinestar.

We also know that on 26th March Tin Gun will release the third single form their upcoming album and, on at 6pm on the same date, they will unveil their identities on their YouTube channel.

Devils and Angels is an uptempo number with superb electronics and a small nod to Peter Hook on the bass line for the breakdowns. It is a dark song set to dance inducing beats, upfront vocals and a damned good pop vibe. The band members are a mystery but the music is not. It’s fantastic pop music. It’s not disposable pop music though; it’s grown up pop music that sounds how pop music should sound. It’s pop music that deserves a wide and appreciative audience and access to the mainstream.

The quality of the musicianship and production is there for all to hear and is topped off with the mastering expertise of Mr Tim Dorney of Republica… is Tim Dorney in the band? Who knows?

Worthy of a special mention is the striking artwork that accompanies the release which demands your immediate attention and come courtesy of Simon Brett.

The band has suggested placing them in the genre of – edgy electro rock, alteranative, dance, synth, retro 80’s but I would suggest a new genre – bloody good!!

Devils and Angels is released on Bandcamp on Friday 26th March and can be pre-ordered now. All pre-orders will receive a link to download the lead track. The single will be released on the usual platforms from Monday 29th March.
