Harmony Voyages brings folk music to the heart of the Cairngorms
‘Aviemore Folk Festival’
5 – 9 December 2022

This is no ordinary folk festival.  Located at the MacDonald Aviemore resort for the second year in a row, the Aviemore Folk Festival runs over four nights and three days, offering a wide and varied selection of music from traditional folk music to the upbeat rock steady Jamaican folk rhythms of Edward II.

“Harmony Voyages offers something different to the traditional festival” says Director, Angela Schofield.  “We take care of everything, including accommodation, festival tickets and even excursions out to local places of interest.  With pre-reserved seating in the 650-person theatre, a warm comfortable bed, and evening meals plus breakfast included what’s not to love?!”

This year’s Aviemore Folk Festival will feature some of Scotland’s finest musicians, including:

Eddi Reader
Described by Jools Holland as ‘one of my favourite singers of all time’.

Formed in 1990 by musicians from the Scottish Highlands, Orkney and Edinburgh with the idea of fusing traditional and traditional-sounding melodies with the beats and basslines of a mixed bag of more contemporary influences.

Scotland’s fabulous fiddle-led band see founding Orkney frontwomen Jeana Leslie, Catriona Price and Kristan Harvey welcome young Highland pianist Rory Matheson to the line-up.

Tyneside folk-rock pioneers LINDISFARNE first grabbed the attention of the country in 1970 with their debut album Nicely Out of Tune.  There followed a string of memorable albums and evergreen classics including Meet Me on the Corner, We Can Swing Together, Fog On The Tyne, Lady Eleanor and Run For Home.

The festival will also feature singer/songwriter Janet Dowd from Co. Armagh in Northern Ireland; Tim Edey (Winner of Musician of the Year at the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards 2020); Edward II (English folk, world music and reggae fusion); and a host of other great musicians.

Guests can buy a pass for the whole week which includes onsite accommodation, and great food at the McDonald Aviemore Resort, or local residents can opt for a day pass.

Director of Harmony Voyages, Angela Schofield says; “We specialise in bringing something unique to the whole festival experience.  Long-lasting friendships are formed, memories are made and with the Aviemore Festival being held in December there’s something quite magical about the place”.
