Louise Connell release updated Video for single Golem 2020

Inspired by the literary works of Michael Chabon and the musical fervor of Iggy Pop, GOLEM 2020 is an infectious pop ballad like no other – a fitting ode to the summer that never was. Louise invites her listeners to ponder existence in this pop-packaged lesson in quantum physics.

Discussing the single, Louise says: “The chorus of the song was inspired by a video I watched about how big a human could be, and that you can think of a human as simply the outcome of the tiny photons bouncing around them. It’s your basic summer banger, really.”

The song was originally recorded for Louise’s album “Straw Woman” (released under her stage name Reverieme), but Louise and her producer Stuart MacLeod felt they hadn’t quite achieved the Motown-with-a-hint-of-Lust-For-Life feel they were going for.

With recording new material in the current circumstances proving to be tricky, they decided to re-record a new version of the song a little closer to their original vision for it.

Recently Louise’s music caught the attention of renowned artist and designer James Marsh; the creative mind behind iconic sleeves for Talk Talk and Jamiroquai, amongst many others.

Marsh drew inspiration from Louise’s lyrical abilities and designed the original artwork for Louise’s epic double album Squall, Echo, Rale.

Renowned for her inquisitive songwriting style, drawing inspiration from a myriad of books and records, Louise is never one to shy away from eccentricity.

At the beginning of 2020, Louise released the single ‘Crossed the Line’ featuring a guest appearance from virtuoso Irish accordionist Sharon Shannon, the track swiftly becoming the most-heard track on Irish national radio for the best part of a month.

A new album will be released in the first half of 2021.
