Cammy Barnes announced for Pepsi MAX presents TRNSMT
Scots country and bagpipe star Cammy Barnes to open TRNSMT festival
Pepsi MAX presents TRNSMT 2026 has announced that Scottish singer-songwriter Cammy Barnes will open the Main Stage at this year’s festival, on Friday 19 June ahead of two headline sold-out shows at the Barrowland this September
The rising folk country star has been lighting up arenas with incredible live shows, delivering powerful vocals and stunning solo bagpipe moments. Now, he is set to join the likes of Richard Ashcroft, Wolf Alice, Nile Rodgers & Chic, and fellow Scots: Dylan John Thomas and The Beta Band on Friday 19th June at Glasgow Green.

Cammy, from Fife, performed to a sold-out crowd at King Tut’s last night, and has a second sold-out show tonight. He originally burst onto the scene through our screens when he appeared on Britain’s Got Talent in 2023 reaching the live semi-final shows with a captivating performance of ‘Caledonia’.
Later that year his single ‘Bonnie’s Song’ reached number one on the UK iTunes chart, and his 2025 hit ‘Whiskey Roll’ made the top 10 of the UK Official Charts.
He also supported Amy Macdonald during her two mega OVO Hydro dates in December last year, with Amy performing on the Main Stage at TRNSMT on Sunday 21st June.
Cammy is an emerging artist who has progressed through TRNSMT, having previously headlined the River Stage in 2024. The former Red Hot Chilli Piper returned to the festival last year where he played his pipes alongside Tom Walker during ‘Leave a Light On’. This summer he will step up to open the Main Stage with his own set.
TRNSMT 2026 has so far confirmed over 30 acts to perform across four stages over three days of fantastic live music with more still to be announced. Headliners Richard Ashcroft, Kasabian and Lewis Capaldi will be joined by the likes of Sonny Fodera, Two Door Cinema Club and CMAT from 19th to 21st June.
Cammy Barnes said: “TRNSMT is always one of my highlights of the summer, and I can’t wait to open the Main Stage this year.
“Last year it was amazing to stand on stage with Tom Walker and play the bagpipes in front of the TRNSMT crowd.
“Now I can’t believe I’m going to be back on that stage performing my own songs. I’m so excited to get out there and kick off an incredible weekend of live music.”
Geoff Ellis, Festival Director at Pepsi MAX presents TRNSMT said: “We’re really excited about having Cammy Barnes kick off this year’s festival in style – he is on such a steep trajectory having just recently sold out two nights at the legendary Barrowland in minutes!
“It’s the ultimate Scottish opening to the nation’s biggest live music event and throughout the weekend we’re showcasing the best the country has to offer, from Cammy at the very start to Lewis Capaldi closing on the Sunday.”
