Dictator have released the beautifully heartfelt new single Fin. via Blackhall Records. Written from the perspective of vocalist Michael Campbell’s own West Highland Terrier named Fin, the Dictator’s latest offering sees the band move in a different direction from previous two singles Rubik’s Cube and Conquistador, opting for a softer, more introspective sound.

This is the third track to drop from the forthcoming debut EP Rubik’s Cube which the band are gearing up to unveil on 2nd September via Blackhall Records. To celebrate, the band will be playing a highly anticipated headline show in Glasgow’s St Lukes on 8th September, tickets available here

“I’ve been searching for all the meaning in my life and the road, well it leads on back to you,” Michael sings. Although an altogether more delicate track than its predecessors, it brims with the same sense of optimism and joy that runs through all Dictator’s tracks.

The Scottish four-piece – consisting of vocalist Michael Campbell, guitarist Zach Tarimo Goodhur, bassist Joe Murty, and drummer Allan Ramsay – have weaved a familial theme throughout their forthcoming debut EP. Where their previous single Conquistador featured the heartbeat of guitarist Zach’s unborn son; Fin, as well as being written from the perspective of Michael’s dog, features backing vocals and brass from his parents.

Speaking on the EP, lead singer, songwriter and vocalist Michael Campbell said:“The key thing about Rubik’s Cube is that we wanted to capture elements of every band member’s life at the time of writing – like a frame of reference so that, no matter what happens, we could all have a chunk of this piece of work to cherish and be proud of. Nothing signifies this more than the band utilising intimate samples and aspects of each member’s family within the walls of its tracks.”
