For those not in the know- I will tell you a little secret— but shhhhh! We want to keep this gem of a music celebration all to ourselves! The good people of Dunure are planning their annual good-old-fashioned, sea-shanty of a knees up

Dunure is the most precious of small Scottish fishing villages; nestled on the stunning Firth of Clyde, Dunure is located about 5 miles  from nearest town Ayr. Dunure is soaked in beauty and history; the ruined mediaeval castle in a clifftop setting dramatically overseas quaint 19th century cottages and a busy, working harbour below. A creative village, Dunure is home to many artists and musicians; even Scotland’s most influential artist, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, choose to spend his holidays here! And, in more recent days, the village has hosted and welcomed the crew and cast of Scotland’s most successful tv export Outlander; where stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe filmed 18th century scenes against Dunure’s picturesque backdrop.

And, Dunure’s fishing harbour, will, once again, be transformed to host the highlight of the village calendar – Dunure Festival of the Sea

Dunure Festival of the Sea; a great music event celebrating Scottish maritime history, fresh-caught Scottish seafood, and water-sports. Organised by a group of enthusiastic volunteers on behalf of Dunure Harbour Committee Association Ltd, (a Registered Charity), the festival is a key attraction in South Ayrshire’s calendar of music and cultural events, taking place this year on Saturday 20th July – 1pm to 11pm.

Profit from the event is exclusively used to maintain and improve Dunure Harbour facilities including the remains of the West Pier lighthouse dating from 1811; Dunure is one of the most scenic coastal locations in Scotland, a jewel on the Clyde. The organisers are grateful to South Ayrshire Council, sponsors, advertisers and the many volunteers who give up their time throughout the year to make it all happen.
