STORMZY MAKES HISTORY

Hyped as one of the most anticipated, historic headline sets in Glastonbury history, at 25-years-old Stormzy is the second youngest solo act to headline Glastonbury after David Bowie and became the first black solo British headliner of the iconic Worthy Farm festival. From a video of Jay Z giving the young rapper advice, a custom made Bansky vest, a duet with Chris Martin and appearances from Raleigh Ritchie, Dave and fellow TRNSMT act FredoStormzy’s set will rightly go down in the history books. The rapper’s next UK show is TRNSMT’s opening night on Friday 12th July joining acts like Gerry Cinnamon, Years & Years, AJ Tracey, Fredo and more. Delivering a culture-defining performance, the crowd sang every word of Stormzy’s Number One hit ‘Vossi Bop’ and ‘Big For Your Boots’, plus an emotional performance of ‘Blinded By Your Grace, Pt.2’. Stormzy set the stage for a truly epic set in Glasgow Green as fans will witness one of the biggest stars in the world take to the TRNSMT stage.

“WHO’S THIS CAPALDI FELLA”

Creating one of the most humorous headlines of the weekend, ‘R KID’ Lewis Capaldi made pals with class of TRNSMT 2018 act Liam Gallagher backstage as he donned a new mod haircut and custom Noel Gallagher t-shirt, in response to Noel’s recent comments about the West Lothian superstar. Lewis Capaldi’s entrance soon went viral on Twitter as the young singer-songwriter strutted on stage sporting a parka and bucket hat, on one of the hottest days at the festival. Mixing his down to earth humour with self-proclaimed sad songs, Lewis generated praise from the likes of Kevin Bridges and Liam Gallagher and is set to make an epic return to TRNSMT this year on the festival’s closing day. With day tickets for Sunday 14th July sold out, fans can still snap up a chance to see Scotland’s Number One superstar by purchasing 2 or 3 day tickets from www.TRNSMTfest.com.

PRETTY SHINING PEOPLE

George Ezra took to the stage on Friday at Glastonbury, delighting the Pyramid Stage with his toe tapping tunes, showcasing an array of songs like ‘Barcelona’, ‘Pretty Shining People’ and ‘Budapest’ which was fitting for the hot summer weather that graced Worthy Farm. Surrounded by a glowing sunset sky, the chart-topping singer had fans in the palm of his hands as he finished with his UK Number One ‘Shotgun’ which fans belted out alongside him. George Ezra will perform his festival ready tunes at TRNSMT’s closing night on Sunday 14thJuly.

THIS CHARMING MAN

Making one of the biggest headlines of the weekend, legendary guitarist and Summer Sessions act Johnny Marr not only played his own heroic set, but also joined Saturday night’s headliners The Killers for unforgettable performances of ‘This Charming Man’ and ‘Mr Brightside’. Making a surprise appearance alongside a starstruck Brandon Flowers, Marr brought his effortless and inimitable skills to the Pyramid Stage, delighting thousands of fans. The guitarist will make his Summer Sessions debut in Edinburgh’s Princes Street Gardens on 10th August as he joins fellow rockers Primal Scream at the festival. Fellow Summer Sessions act Courteeners made a serious impression on Glastonbury festival-goers at the weekend too, opening their banger-filled set with ‘Are You In Love With A Notion?’ The band will play a sold-out show in Princes Street Gardens on 16th August, in front of one of the most incredible festival backdrops of Edinburgh Castle.

SIGRID’S BIGGEST FAN

Norwegian pop star Sigrid brought her critically acclaimed, catchy hooks to the Other Stage and she’s set to turn to TRNSMT Festival on Saturday 13th July, following a huge set on the King Tut’s Powered by Utilita Energy Stage in 2018. Sigrid even tweeted about one fan in particular who sang and cried along to every word of her set sending the singing superstar on the hunt for her biggest fan.

Stealing the show on Sunday afternoon, Years & Years left a powerful mark on the Pyramid Stage as lead singer Olly Alexander delivered an emotive speech about LGBTQ+ rights. Olly spoke passionately  about the fight for equality and gay rights which was reciprocated by the crowd in loud cheers. Performing smash hits like ‘If You’re Over Me’ from their recent album ‘Palo Santo’, Years & Years brought carefree fun to the last day of the festival. Glasgow can catch a sunshine-y glimpse of Years & Years at TRNSMT 2019 on Friday 12th July.

TOP PERFORMERS

An array of acts who are set to play TRNSMT’s Glasgow Green stages across the weekend of 12th-14th July gave a taster of what’s to come at Glastonbury this weekend. From the incredible Gerry Cinnamon to Mahalia (Friday 12th July artists), to Fontaines D.C who are sure to be one of the top performers of the weekend (Sat 13th July artist) to The Wombats and Circa Waves (Sun 14th July artists). Scotland’s festivals are where it’s at this summer!

Fresh off the back of supporting Muse at their show in the Etihad Stadium and touring with fellow Glasgow Summer Sessions act The 1975 around the US earlier this year, Manchester band Pale Waves made their Glastonbury debut over the weekend. Kicking the festival off on the Thursday night with their ‘secret’ gig on the William Green stage, Pale Waves naturally warmed the eager crowds up with their single ‘Eighteen’, spoiling the crowd with an early taster of what was to come in their performance on the John Peel Stage the following evening. Fans can expect a performance of 80’s pop meets rock at The 1975 Glasgow Summer Sessions on 25th August as Pale Waves make their GSS festival debut.
