Scottish phenomenon Gerry Cinnamon closes his UK summer dates in style in front of 100,000 people at Scotland’s national football stadium. Performing for 50,000 fans at Glasgow’s Hampden Park last night with another sold-out night to come today.

The culmination of a summer on the road, these long awaited, huge hometown shows delivered as expected.  First announced in 2019, but delayed due to the pandemic, it was clear that the massed ranks of Gerry’s followers, who snapped up every ticket in a matter of hours, were ready to party. With these shows Gerry makes history as the first independent act and indeed the first Scot to sell out multiple nights at the national stadium.

Gerry drew on his two hit albums with songs that generate a legendary live experience including ‘Dark Days’, ‘Sun Queen’, ‘Ghost’, ‘Where We’re Going’ and platinum-certified singles ‘Sometimes’ and ‘Belter’.  He also gave us a flavour of new music, playing an unreleased track ‘Sacred’ and a stunning tribute to his hero Billy Connolly with his own rendition of ‘I Wish I Was in Glasgow’.

Earlier, special guests The CharlatansJake Bugg and The Snuts entertained the stadium, ensuring a fantastic day of music. (Travis and Vistas will replace The Charlatans and The Snuts for Sunday).

Gerry’s gigs have become folklore – joyous mass fan singalongs inspiring devotion and a dedicated following that has swelled, via word-of-mouth, to epic proportions. And Hampden did not disappoint.

Gerry says,Unbelievable gig. Unbelievable atmosphere. 3 year in the making. Folk there from the four corners of the world.
Cheers everybody. Been there since day 1. Means the world. Love yous

The continuing ascent of Gerry Cinnamon is one of contemporary music’s most outstanding stories. Rising from a self-released debut album (2017’s ‘Erratic Cinematic’), Gerry has become a stadium, arena and castle-filling headliner. And as an artist whose revealing and honest songs naturally connect with a huge and devoted audience, he’s achieved it all entirely independently.

In April 2020, Gerry’s second album ‘The Bonny’ shot straight to Number 1 in the Official Album Charts in the UK. Now certified gold, the album went on to become the third biggest selling UK album released that year.

Having organically built up a huge following over the past 5 years, Gerry has become the UK’s biggest independent artist.

The Hampden headline is one of only a handful of outdoor performances in the UK and Ireland in Summer of 2022, including sold out shows at the 25,000 capacity Malahide Castle Dublin, and Musgrave Park Stadium, Cork.

He also played Belfast’s 20,000 capacity Ormeau Park for his third headline performance at BELSONIC festival in June.

In 2021, Gerry set the record as the first artist to sell out two headline shows at the venue. This third date in 12 months means that 60,000 Belfast fans have danced, chanted and sung their hearts out with Gerry at BELSONIC alone, in just a year.

And he also headlined at Swansea’s Singleton Park, the second biggest show ever held in the Welsh city.
