All good things must come to an end, and as the sun sets on Glasgow Green, fans across the country will remember today for a long time – from The Chemical Brothers spellbinding Sunday set, a singalong with Snow Patrol and a homecoming like no other for Glasgow boy Joesefcinch presents TRNSMT Festival proved exactly why Scottish crowds are renowned around the world.

“We’ve spent 14 years of our band’s life in Glasgow. We owe Scotland so much, so thank you for having us here today!” – Snow Patrol, Main Stage

“This is our last festival of the year so we’re aiming to have as much fun as possible!” – Ash, King Tut’s Stage

Festival fans were part of the historic return to Glasgow Green as cinch presents TRNSMT Festival saw 70 acts perform across 3 stages, as live music returned to Scotland once again. A haven for music enthusiasts after two long years without it, fans made sure not to waste a single moment, from catching the biggest breakthrough artists on the King Tut’s and River Stage or enjoying some of the UK’s most successful artists over on the Main Stage.

Geoff Ellis, Festival Director of cinch presents TRNSMT said: “What a weekend. I can’t think of a better way to bring the festival to a close than a block rocking set from electronic legends, The Chemical Brothers.

“I’d like to thank each and every fan, artist and crew member who has made this year’s event well worth the wait. The atmosphere around Glasgow Green has been incredible all weekend and it’s great to see so many smiling faces.

“The compliance with the lateral flow testing policies has been fantastic and lots of attendees have taken multiple tests as they visit throughout the weekend.

“As we bring cinch presents TRNSMT 2021 to a close, rest assured plans for next year’s event are well underway, which we’ll announce very soon.”

The unmissable experience of the summer, cinch presents TRNSMT Festival saw music fans reunite once more as the festival offered an eclectic mix of music, culinary experiences at Big Feedon Tour and TRNSMT’s very own Boogie Bar where revellers danced the night away to sets from TestpressHayley Zalassi and more. Fans enjoyed the weekend in style in the VIP Area, taking in the views at cinch’s faff-free viewing platforms or with a sunset ride on the festival’s Ferris Wheel.

As the weekend drew to a close, it was finally time for The Chemical Brothers to make their cinch presents TRNSMT debut. A mesmerising show made even more special as night fell on the final day of the festival, the duo delivered exactly what fans wanted; opening with the ultimate festival anthem ‘Hey Boy Hey Girl’, and with tunes like ‘Galvanize’ and ‘Go’ in the setlist, there was no doubt they were the perfect choice for Sunday night’s headline slot. Festival goers were treated to a show for all the senses, as The Chemical Brothers’ outstanding production brought dream-like visuals and some of the world’s most loved dance anthems to the Green. The legendary electronic duo signed off, leaving the crowd dancing long after they’d exited the stage.

Paving the way for tonight’s headliners, today’s Main Stage offering was second to none, with Snow Patrol making a welcomed debut at the festival and reminding the Glasgow crowd exactly why they are one of the UK’s most successful artists. With songs that seem made for festival moments exactly like this, Gary Lightbody and the band provided some of the most heart-warming moments of the weekend with huge singalongs to ‘Chasing Cars’ and ‘Open Your Eyes’ as the sun set across the park. Clearly thrilled to be back in the band’s home away from home and before performing one of their most iconic songs ‘Run’, Gary Lightbody said, “This next song was written in Glasgow 20 years ago in a wee house in the West End. I went to check it out today to see if it was still there and took a picture of it – whoever lives in that house, I wasn’t casing the joint! This song’s called ‘Run’.”

Irish singer-songwriter Dermot Kennedy is a true talent and his performance of hits like ‘Power Over Me’ and ‘Lost’ saw the crowd sing every word right back to him, while one of the moments of the weekend came when Amy Macdonald stepped onto the cinch presents TRNSMT Festival stage for the very first time. Opening with ‘We Could Be So Much More’ before classics like ‘This Is The Life’ and ‘Mr Rock & Roll’, the singer made the most of her hometown set. Performances from Declan McKenna, Jay1, Ella Eyre and Lyra completed the stellar Main Stage bill for the festival’s final day with Declan McKenna even donning a Swim School t-shirt, showing his support for the Edinburgh band who played a Sunday afternoon slot on the River Stage.

Over on the King Tut’s Stage, Cromarty singer-songwriter Tamzene was first up, saying “It’s so awesome to be here, I was reminded this is my third consecutive TRNSMT this year”, followed by festival favourite Kyle Falconer, who gave a shout out to Luke La Volpe saying, “I love him, I hope he’s alright!”

After performances from Kawala, Ms Banks, Ryan McMullan and alt-rockers Ash, it was time for one of Glasgow’s very own; soulful sensation Joesef. Growing up just 15 minutes away from the Green in Easterhouse, it was a truly special moment when the singer took to the stage, greeting the elated crowd by saying “Anybody from the East End?!” One of Scotland’s rising comedic stars, Paul Black himself was front row for Joesef’s set, treating fans with ‘Loverboy’ to ‘Limbo’ and ‘The Sun Is Up Forever’, Joesef is surely set to be one of the country’s biggest stars. Rounding off Sunday night on the King Tut’s StageTom Odell treated the crowd to songs from his latest album ‘Monsters’.

As the Courteeners left the stage on the festival’s opening day, Liam Fray said, “Well that was life affirming” – we couldn’t agree more Liam!

And for a Saturday night like no other in Glasgow, there could only be one rock’n’roll star – Liam Gallagher said “Thank you Glasgow, you are the best crowd…”
