What a Rasmusphere!

The Rasmus absolutely smash The Garage

The Rasmus – The Garage, Glasgow – 1st November 2022

As far as the eye could see… That’s how long the queue was from the entrance of The Garage venue on Glasgow’s famous Sauchiehall Street. The Rasmus were in town and, if the length of the queue was anything to go by, the good people of Glasgow were about to give them a warm welcome.

The queue seemed to take forever to gain entry to the venue, and most of the fans (and PCN) didn’t get to see the full support band set. A great pity as The Overlays seemed to be in good form based on the last two tracks PCN was able to catch.

Fortunately, the venue was packed to the rafters by the time The Rasmus took to the stage and the performance was worth the long wait outside as the band were on fire! They burst to life immediately with “First Day of my Life” and with an energy that left the crowd in no doubt as to how the night was going to pan out.

Lauri Ylönen is famed for his energy and tonight he was a master of his craft as he strutted and bounced around the stage. He didn’t stand still for a single second of the decent-length set! The band members played off each other the whole night and it made for a fantastic show. It was clear to all in attendance that this was a band with great experience and stagecraft.

The sound and lighting were absolutely spot on; the lights gave the right amount of atmosphere to the occasion whilst the sound was perfect. All the musicians could be heard and the volume level was excellent; there seems to be a volume trend at the moment where quantity has overtaken quality… thankfully tonight wasn’t one of those nights.

Alas, the set had to come to an inevitable end and the fans started to spill out onto the wet and windy Sauchiehall Street happy in the knowledge that they had witnessed something special by the Finnish stars.
