In a sea of music, every once in a while you come across an album that makes you stop and listen and this album is one of those times. Who am I talking about? I am talking about the band is JoanOvArc from London, UK. They have been hitting the international scene since 2015 with their style kicking attitude. The band members (Laura Ozholl, Sam Walker, Shelly Walker and Deborah Wildish) will be releasing their debut album called Ride of Your Life, on November 11, 2016.

JoanOvArc’s debut album is on by Red Vixen Records Records Label and English record producer Gil Norton. Gil Norton has impressive career of working with known alternative bands such as Pixies, Echo & the Bunnymen, Counting Crows, Patti Smith and Foo Fighter to name a few.

The album contains eleven tracks of pure rock’n’roll music. Including `White Trash`, `Dragon in the Sky`, `Live Rock’n’Roll` and the title cut `Ride of Your Life`. Throughout the album there is strong singing by Sam Walker with catchy guitar lick by Shelly Walker. The two sisters and help from the other, Laura Ozholl and Deborah Wildish, make this album something to listen to.

If I had to pick only one or two favorite song from the album, it would be a hard choice to make. The songs on the album are well done and I do not believe you would be disappointed to get it.

For this reviewer, there are two songs that are strong from me. The first song ‘Work’ is a fast pace and upbeat song with great guitar work peppered in. It is one of those songs that, once you heard it, you will be humming it for the rest of the day. The catchy beat/lick reminds me of the song from Katrina & The Wave’s ‘Walking on Sunshine’, minus the horns. Just from the sound or beat, the song has the same vibe/influence.

The other song that has become one of my new favorite is the title track from the album, ‘Ride of Your Life’. The song has attitude, catch guitar lick and great vocal range from the singer. In my opinion, everything you need for a hit.

If you get a chance to either see them or get this album, I would recommend it. In my opinion, the album is a strong 4 out of 5. It has attitude, great singing and great instrumental playing. Everything you need in today’s album.

Members Include:

  • Sam Walker – Lead Vocals/Bass/Rhythm guitar
  • Deborah Wildish – Drums/percussion
