The Cinelli Brothers excite their fans at The Harlington – Concert Review

“We weren’t even sure we could remember how to play…..”

said smiling Cinelli Brothers frontman Marco Cinelli,  after a stellar show at The Harlington venue in Fleet, Hampshire on Sunday afternoon, “So we just went for it”.

Opening with the rollicking 12 bar “Save Me” before sliding into “Chop the Line” and the song that really says it all, “Wanna have a good time”, the band went from strength to strength, treating the audience to an exuberant yet stylish performance.  The set continued from there, the sheer joy of playing visible on the band-mates faces as they romped through the set and the audience lapped it up.  It was a small audience due to necessary restrictions and all seated, made smaller by people not being able to travel from higher tiers. The Harlington staff had worked tirelessly to ensure that this show went ahead after having to cancel all their November events, and all the Covid requirements – track and trace, table service for drinks and snacks, all seated and mingling discouraged – were in place to give people a sense of comfort and confidence in being there and enjoying live music once more.

With an audience eager for live music and a band eager to perform, the chemistry was right for a high energy show and the boys certainly delivered that.  Playing a variety of songs from their 2018 Album “Babe Please set Your Alarm”, new material including brand new song “Just So you Know” and covers of Little Willie’s “I’m shaking” and Kenny Roger’s “Just Dropped In”, the Cinelli Brothers kept the crowd fully entertained with their blend of Chicago and Texas Blues.   Marco Cinelli (Guitar, Keys, Vocals) and Tom “JJ” Julian-Jones (Guitar, Harmonica, Vocals) traded licks and riffs while younger brother Alessandro Cinelli (Drums) and Enzo Strano (Bass) kept it all tight and tidy at the back, every now and then swapping roles just to keep things interesting.  Finishing the set with their own song “Hole in my Shoe” (Not to be confused with other songs of the same name) and “Wolf Whistle”, the audience were on their feet giving the boys a well-deserved standing ovation.

There was no way the show could end there, and the band were quickly back on stage for the encore, starting with another brand new song “Married Woman” and “Choo my Gum” a song that in less safe circumstances would have the audience singing along with the chorus before an epic drum solo from Alessandro takes the band into the Bo Diddley classic “Who do You Love” before a rousing version of the Beatle’s “Revolution” to finally close the show with the crowd on their feet again.

The Cinelli Brothers are a band that are definitely going places, their infectious style and personalities, combined with their sheer rock ‘n’ roll energy, drawing people to them and are definitely a band to watch out for.
