Melanie C has today released a video for her brilliant new single, ‘Into You’. First heard on the deluxe edition of her latest album, ‘Melanie C’ landed Sporty Spice her first top 10 record in 17 years (as well as the best reviews of her career), and the number 1 independent album upon its October release. Following recent spots ranging from Later…With Jools Holland to Royal Variety, Melanie kickstarted 2021 as the first musical guest on the new-look Women’s Hour, where she performed a beautiful rendition of ‘Here Comes The Sun’.

An immediate fan-favourite (and four-to-the-floor anthem), ‘Into You’ is a snapshot of Melanie C riding a new peak of her pop powers. Channeling her new music’s wider theme of growth and self-acceptance – “I don’t need you to tell me I’m beautiful / I do it for myself, it’s better for my health” – ‘Into You’ lands alongside a stunning, Graham Cruz-directed video today.. “I love this track,” says Melanie. “It makes me want to throw myself around the dance floor, which is obviously something none of us can do at the moment, so I don’t know whether that’s the right thing to say! Hopefully everyone will be back on the dance floor soon, jumping around to this.”

Beneath its electronic euphoria, ‘Melanie C’ also soundtracks a deeper sense of evolution that the modern icon has undergone whilst making the record. An artist who’s at home presenting her friend Billie Eilish with a BRIT Award as she is lending her vital voice to the modern discourse on depression, body positivity, and the LGBTQ community, Melanie C’s trailblazing influence has never been more apparent than it has on her new music. With collaborators ranging from Nadia Rose, Shura and her longtime Spice Girls ally Biff Stannard to remixes from the likes of Todd Terry’s (whose house-take on album favourite ‘Overload’ just dropped), few contemporary acts would be as at home doing all this as they would be performing under lockdown for ‘The Late Late Show With James Corden’, or putting together a specialist DJ mix for i-D Magazine.

With over 100 million records sold and multiple BRIT, Ivor, Billboard and Olivier Awards under her belt, ‘Melanie C’ nonetheless has the feel of the album of her career (and the story of her musical life). It is, too, a glorious new chapter for Girl Power.

‘MelanieC’ is available digitally, on CD and on vinyl both in standard edition and as x2 deluxe CD edition with bonus tracks, exclusive coloured vinyl, and special limited deluxe vinyl with exclusive 12” singles. All album formats are available now via  https://melaniec.net/.
