Melting Pot and Heverlee have announced the line-up for their unmissable return to Queen’s Park Recreation Ground.

Taking place on the Springtime bank holiday weekend on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th May, you can dance away in the Big Top Tent, enjoy some ice-cold pints of Heverlee and enjoy some great food courtesy of The Big Feed.

Headlining the Saturday is one of the most successful soul and disco acts of their era, Odyssey. The group had a string of UK top 10 singles including stone cold disco classics like Native New Yorker, Going Back to My Roots and Inside Out, hitting the top of the charts with Use It Up and Wear It Out in 1980. They will be bringing a seven piece live band to the Southside of Glasgow in a rare trip north of the border.

London’s disco-spinning disco collective Horse Meat Disco will make a welcome return to the city. The beloved London DJ collective have been dedicated to the industry of human happiness since 2004 and have become global disco ambassadors.

Joining them will be Manchester clubbing institution Homoelectric. Known for their inclusive atmosphere, Homoelectric  have been throwing parties for two decades and are creators of the mighty Homobloc, the annual celebration at Manchester’s Warehouse Project.  Also joining the bill is promoter and founder of Homoelectric and Homobloc, Luke Una, who will be performing his new project, a collection of new, old, rare and under-discovered music from around the world, all united by Luke under the banner of E-Soul Culture. The Melting Pot DJs will be on hand to bring the party that has kept Glasgow dancing.

Rebecca Vasmant’s 8 Piece Ensemble will also be playing live. Formed following the sell out album ‘ With Love, From Glasgow ‘ released last year, Rebecca has gathered an ensemble of world class musicians. Through the ethereal, floating textures, the music tells a love story to Scotland, and the wonderful talents happening in the beautiful country.

Billy Woods will be playing a “Supermax” set. Original Melting Pot resident, Billy has continued the high quality events with his Supermax monthly residency at the Berkeley Suite – continuing in the vein of not only delivering a great party, but attention to detail on the sound of the event as well.

On bank holiday Sunday, the mighty Optimo (Espacio) take over with a huge line up. Charlotte Adigéry & Bolis Pupul (live) will make their Scottish festival debut. The Ghent-based duo, who broke out with their 2019 Zandoli EP on Soulwax’s record label DEEWEE, are rare storytellers in electronic music; they takethe temperature of the time and funnel them into their playful synth concoctions – never didactic and always with a knowing wink.

UK techno sorcerer, DJ and producer James Holden will take the helm on Sunday for a special live set. With his first album since 2017, Imagine This Is A High Dimensional Space Of All Possibilities, out on 31st March a culmination of a musical career spanning over twenty years. Holden is seeking to recapture that feeling of hope, freedom and possibility (both musical and otherwise) that characterised those venerated earliest days of dance music

The hosts of Sunday, JD Twitch and JG Wilkes of Optimo (Espacio) will take us on a transformative genre-hopping musical journey that only they can. They tore up the rule book as Sunday became the new Saturday every week for 12 years. Since then, they remain one of the most influential DJ teams / producers / record label owners in the UK with a following as large as it is loyal.

Esteemed rhythm selector David Barbarossa is also confirmed alongside Glasgow party starters and soon to be household names Pleasure Pool who recently released their stunning debut LP Love Without Illusion on Optimo Music, a dazzling complete expression of their intoxicating sound and vision.

Completing today’s announcement is one of the scene’s most respected selectors, Shy One. Living and breathing the eclecticism and diversity of her DJ sets and productions, expect a performance filled with flair and grit.

Mark Mackechnie, Festival Director, said: “We’re really looking forward to bringing this great event back home to the southside of Glasgow. This is the most ambitious line-up we’ve put on to date – add that to our continued partnership with Heverlee and Optimo, food from the Big Feed and the various performers we will have across the site, DJs and great live acts. It’s going to be memorable”.

Keith Mcivor, of Optimo, said: “Last year’s Queen’s Park Recreation Ground event was one of our very favourite gigs of 2022. The atmosphere was electric and there is no party like a Glasgow party! We are very excited to be back again this year with a hand picked line up of some of our most loved artists.”

Hazel Alexander, Senior Brand Manager for Heverlee, said: We’re thrilled to be partnering with Melting Pot for another year, bringing great music, entertainment, food and of course pints of ice cold Heverlee premium pilsner lager to Glasgow’s southside. There’s a fantastic line up of DJs already confirmed and with more entertainment to be announced for the Heverlee tent, it’s sure to be a great weekend for all involved.”
