MONOBLOC: New single Irish Goodbye & UK date
Hotly tipped New Yorkers return to UK for debut Manchester headline show
We’ve previously featured NYC’s Monobloc at PCN Magazine, featuring the release of their debut single “Where Is My Garden ?” and news of their whistle stop London shows ahead of a few European Festival dates.
Now they’ve decided to head back to the UK and will make their debut Manchester appearance at the Deaf Institute on 8th November. In the meantime their second single, Irish Goodbye, is released. The track explores the social stresses of modern city living, with an intensely complex and post-punk charm. Think the Strokes, think Fontaines DC, add some sub-Dinosaur Jr guitar melody. Light the blue touch paper, stand well back as the disarmingly lilting tune suddenly explodes, before fading away. Check out the video below and you’ll see what I mean.
The term “Irish Goodbye” is used for someone who leaves a party without saying goodbye to anyone, and the song is basically about extracting yourself from the social realm with the minimum fuss.
You can catch Monobloc at Manchester’s Deaf Institute on Fri 8th Nov. They also head to London’s The Blue Basement on Sat 9th. Click links for tickets. NB: No tickets on the door for London. Advance tickets are only £6.
