Today, Dutch musician and visual artist known as Young & Sick has released new single “CICADAS.” The track is available everywhere now here.
Blending orchestral instrumentation with Young & Sick’s soaring vocal and inventive production, “CICADAS” is the latest taste of the forthcoming new album from Young & Sick titled BROTHER, set for a September 24 release via B3SCI Records.
On the track, Young & Sick notes, “Julio Cortázar once wrote about ‘nostalgia for the kingdom.’ You know the feeling; that full-body yearn for something never known, that deep-set desire to return to a place never inhabited, never been, never left. That’s what we’re dealing with here. Nostalgia for the Kingdom.”
The new album will be available on limited edition translucent orange vinyl. Pre-order a copy now here.

New single “CICADAS” follows previous track “ANGELS,” a lush, mid-tempo burner that features Montreal’s MUNYA, which Fizzy Magazine noted “paves the way for what could be an incredible album.” Listen to “ANGELS” everywhere now here.
Young & Sick wrote and recorded the album in a cabin in Vermont with his bandmate and longtime music director, Luke Woods, whose near-death touring accident inspired “ANGELS” and threads a subtle poignancy through the collection of songs that is BROTHER.
Over the past year, Young & Sick has established himself a pioneer in the audio/visual NFT space, legitimizing its burgeoning potential for visual artists and creators at-large. Notably, one week Young & Sick had the highest audio/visual resale NFT with his piece ‘In Doge We Trust.’
This spring, Young & Sick partnered with Goldflyer, a fundraising initiative spearheaded by Neon Gold Records, Venue Group and All Things Go, for an NFT fundraising campaign to benefit the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA). The effort raised $250K for struggling independent venues due to the COVID-19 pandemic. See coverage of the campaign by Variety.
The NIVA fundraiser featured NFT artwork designed by Young & Sick, with winning bids by artists including Shawn Mendes (Troubadour), Tove Lo (First Avenue), Dillon Francis (Neumos), Pabllo Vittar (9:30 Club) and Tycho (The Independent), all to give back to their favorite independent venues.
Young & Sick will do an NFT drop with Nifty Gateway featuring custom creative assets for the forthcoming BROTHER LP. He will also introduce his first NFT fanclub this fall; holders will receive exclusive access to merch, shows, and other member-only perks. Young & Sick is set to show at NFT.NYC this November and he is also getting into metaverse gaming with plans to build in Sandbox.
