Today, Glasgow’s Lucia & The Best Boys signify the beginning of a new era with ‘When You Dress Up’, her first new music since 2021’s The State Of Things EP.
‘When You Dress Up’ offers a first glimpse into Lucia’s eagerly awaited debut album, due for release later this year via Communion Records, and documents a turning point in both her life and her music.

Embracing the effects of womanhood, the new cut exemplifies Lucia’s blend of youthful fragility and an empowering air of maturity; shifting the band’s rock-inspired aesthetic into a hypnotic new space.
“I’ve known since the first time we played ‘When You Dress Up’ in the studio that it was the first song I wanted people to hear for this turning point in my music.” notes Lucia.
“This song resonates deeply with my values as a woman with its unapologetic, empowering energy. For me, this is an evolution from themes I have sung about in the past which underline the weight of the male gaze, and learning not to suppress our own identity for the sake of another person’s version of who we should be.’
The track’s accompanying video also arrives today. Created by Lucia and director Rianne White, it’s a love letter to embracing every version of ourselves.
Lucia & The Best Boys’ notoriously fierce live performances are only going from strength to strength, with Wolf Alice inviting her on their extensive 2021 UK tour having witnessed the energy of their show.
Her stagecraft also caught the eyes of legendary fashion house Alexander McQueen, becoming creative director Sarah Burton’s recent muse. Having recently closed their flagship runway show at London Fashion Week, the band also partnered with McQueen for a campaign this summer which captured them taking to the stage in Glasgow’s legendary and glitzy Barrowland Ballroom.
Oozing confidence and ready for what lies ahead, 2023 feels like a defining year for Lucia & The Best Boys.
