Peach & Quiet – Just Beyond the Shine Album Review

Peach & Quiet released their debut album, Just Beyond the Shine, on 15 Jan 2021.  The duo, consisting of Heather Read and Jonny Miller, are based on Pender Island off Canada’s west coast.

The nine-track album, recorded in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, has a ‘60s/’70s West Coast sound to it, mixed with folk, americana, and a little bit of country. It‘s one of those records which feels familiar and cosy to listen to.  For My Love has a hint of the Milk Carton Kids, Shoreline After A Storm has a Gretchen Peters’ (circa Hello Cruel World) feel to it, and in Lucky In Love Jonny seems to be channeling Chip Taylor.

It’s a great listen for anyone who likes their music with a West Coast (of North America) feel, and I look forward to hearing more from this talented pair.
