Riverside Festival becomes first big festival to welcome Scottish fans back since 2019

Today, more than two years since it was first forced to reschedule due to Covid restrictions, Glasgow’s Riverside Festival welcomed back fans to the grounds of Glasgow’s Riverside Museum on the River Clyde. Music lovers were joined on the grounds of the iconic Zaha Hadid designed museum by an eclectic array of the world’s most cutting edge artists for the 8th edition of Scotland’s premiere celebration of electronic music.

Jamie xx made an unforgettable return to Glasgow for the first time since his 2015 In Colours tour ending Riverside’s inaugural Friday with a euphoric headline set, while pioneering DJ and producer Floating Points soundtracked a stunning Glasgow sunset with a momentous live set.

Today also saw celebrated local station Clyde Built Radio take over the festival’s brand new Satellite Stage with a line-up including: double Scottish Alternative Music Award Winner DJ,  producer and activist TAAHLIAH and a special b2b from two of the best in the west Ribeka and Sofay.

Dave Clarke, Festival Director, said: “It felt brilliant to finally welcome everyone back to Riverside Festival after what’s been such a challenging time. The RF Team have been working tirelessly to make sure this weekend’s event was as safe and fun as possible for all our ticket holders and it was great to see that hard work pay off. The crowd was fantastic and, after so long without live music, we wanted to make sure this was the biggest celebration of music – and life – that we’ve ever thrown. We’ve certainly done that.”

Tomorrow’s event promises to be just as memorable, with a formidable line-up featuring headliners Disclosure, Glasgow favourite Skream, a special b2b with Mella Dee & Maya Jane Coles, as well as a whole host of the best in cutting edge local and international talent.

For those who want to continue the party, organisers will be opening the doors to the official after party: Riverside By Night. Taking over Glasgow’s SWG3 warehouse complex, making Riverside By Night a late-night festival in itself.
