Riverside Festival to be first Scottish festival to welcome back fans since 2019

Organisers behind Glasgow’s Riverside Festival have confirmed that, more than two years since it was first forced to reschedule due to Covid restrictions, fans will finally be making a return to the grounds of Glasgow’s iconic Riverside Museum on the River Clyde this September.

After what has been a long 18 months without live music, the Riverside crew are making up for lost time by throwing their biggest party yet. Fans will be treated to an extra day, turning Scotland’s premiere celebration of electronic music into a 3 day weekender for the first time.

Mark Mackechnie, Festival Director, said: “We are absolutely delighted to finally be given some clear guidance and the go-ahead for the Riverside Festival to take place. It’s been challenging for everybody working on the event and also for customers waiting for the event to be given the green light. Now that’s happened we literally couldn’t be happier and we can’t wait to open the gates and welcome everybody down.”

Jamie xx, Disclosure, Amelie Lens and Skream will be joined by an eclectic array of the world’s most cutting-edge DJs in the grounds of the iconic Zaha Hadid designed Riverside Museum on Glasgow’s Clydeside. True to form, organisers have worked hard to make sure the line-up is as unique as it is formidable with Floating Points playing live in Scotland for the first time, Maya Jane Coles going back-to-back with Mella Dee for a world exclusive, and co-curators of the event, Slam, debuting their brand new Hybrid Live concept.

Another new addition to this year’s event is the Satellite Stage, which will be showcasing some of the abundance of up-and-coming homegrown talent that Glasgow is renowned for.

To top things off, after the festival closes on Saturday organisers will be opening the doors to the official after party: Riverside By Night. Huge names like Disclosure and Glasgow favourite Skream will be playing alongside a whole host of exciting local talent across Glasgow’s SWG3 warehouse complex, making Riverside By Night a late-night festival in itself.

This is the 8th edition of the Riverside Festival, and the first since the event had to be rescheduled from May 2020 due to Covid-19 restrictions.
