Fans wanting to see Scotland’s crucial World Cup clash against Morocco live on the country’s biggest screen can gain late entry to Glasgow Green which has announced the ultimate pre-match lineup.
A unique late entry ticket allows supporters to arrive from 7.30pm, allowing them to see Richard Ashcroft, before an all-star Scottish lineup gets the party started, including iconic GBX tunes and a Scottish World Cup icon.
Broadcaster Sean McDonald, known for his podcast Blethered, will host proceedings warming up the crowd for a special night ahead, he’ll be joined by Rose Reilly – famously the only Scottish person to have won a World Cup, after she joined up with the Italian women’s team in 1984 to clinch a historic winner’s medal, scoring in the final.
Spirits are high ahead of the national team’s second Group C fixture after a famous win in the wee hours of Sunday morning. Now the attention turns to Friday night with the game to be beamed from Boston onto the massive screens at Glasgow Green, after the first day of TRNSMT festival comes to a close.
The party will be ramped up by classic football adjacent tunes from radio DJ George Bowie, GBX. Comedian Rosco McClelland will bring his Scotland anthem inspired by the Cheers theme tune to the big stage, all before talented Scots piper and singer Cammy Barnes will deliver a rousing rendition of Flower of Scotland right in time before kick off.
A huge atmosphere is expected with hopes for a sea of saltires bringing the colour to Glasgow Green.
George Bowie said: “I’m buzzing to play Glasgow Green after TRNSMT this Friday and support the Scotland team with the best crowd in the world – something I’ve always wanted to do.
“I’ll be playing lots of the big football songs I’ve been part of, from Bits to Boogie and a surprise or two…and you never know who might join us on stage. Then we get to watch the game on the biggest screen in the country. Come on Scotland and come on Glasgow Green!”
Sean McDonald said: “I’m so excited to be part of such a massive day and night for Glasgow and for Scotland. The Glasgow Green crowd is always electric, and I know they’ll create an unbelievable atmosphere for the full game.
Thousands of us together on the Green, getting behind Scotland at the World Cup in the middle of a party atmosphere…what more could you possibly want?”
