On ‘Circe’, the eclectic trio Sex Mask delivers a hypnotic piece which oozes raw, tumultuous sonics, landing at the cross-section of industrial rock, breakbeat, punk, nu-metal and spoken word.
Speaking about ‘Circe’, Wry Gray (frontman) said:
“Taking from Homer’s classic ‘Odyssey’, the use of “Circe” (The evil sorceress that turns men into animals”) is an illustration of my own projections at the end of a bad relationship. The way we demonise and mythologise others to satisfy our own peace or fulfilment in the moment, in this instance I felt best analogised by myself as “man made beast”, bright red with embarrassment
Continuing his exploration of Ancient Greek philosophy, Wry offers an instructional on ‘How To Be Cool At Parties’
‘How To Be Cool At Parties: A Guide
- Find the legally appointed lord of the residence
- Demand they shake your hand
- Eye contact
- Find somewhere quiet to sit
- Leave
- Congratulate yourself you are now you’re not only cool but better than everyone else at the party”
In May 2025, Sex Mask will embark on their first UK and European tour, including a headline London show at The Lower Third on Wednesday 14th May, as well as two dates at The Great Escape Festival on 15th and 16th May. Full tour dates can be found below and tickets can be purchased HERE.
Also announced today is a second in the series of double A-Side 7” vinyls, “How To Be Cool At Parties / Circe”. This physical release will be out exclusively to Rough Trade. Pre-orders are available HERE.
