Twin siblings Phoenix and Mercedes Arn-Horn have to date proven to be more than musicians, weaving various important messages throughout their music. New single “Gaslight” is no different, as the Canadian duo explores the turmoil of existing within an abusive relationship in which one half of a couple breaks down the other halves mental stability, causing them to question their sense of reality and creating detrimental harm to their feelings, emotions, and their perception of self-being. Melodically, “Gaslight”balances delicately between a dreamy shoegaze escapade and a momentous alt-rock venture. Its production is crisp and its musical scope vast, as it exists flawlessly as a contemporary indie-rock track.

Speaking about the new record, bandmember Mercedes Arn-Horn said:

“We wrote this song about gaslighting and how it really messes with your head and your perception of reality. Being in a relationship that constantly makes you question your decisions and actions, your feelings and emotions, even your soundness of mind. It’s a tactic that many abusers and groomers will use to tear down your defences and make you easier to manipulate. We wanted to raise awareness of this manipulation technique so that whoever hears the song will be able to recognize those red flags if they encounter that kind of behaviour.”

“Year of the Snake” will be released via Easy Life Records and is out on 4th February 2022. It is set to include new single “Gaslight” and already released singles “BWBB” and “Perfect Blue”, as well as additional tracks yet to be announced.
