Today’s announcement is fantastic news for music fans across the country as Dundee is announced as the latest major city joining the Summer Sessions family, alongside Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will be the first act to headline this brand new festival in what will also be their first time playing Dundee.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds continue to push the boundaries of British rock. The band recently documented their impressive output over the last decade on this year’s “Back the Way We Came’ Vol.1 (2011-2021)”, their 4th straight number 1 album. A mix of previous hits and new material, this album stands as a testament to a band at the top of its game.

Fans from all over the country will have the opportunity to enjoy Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and their impressive set list – as intended – live and loud, as Dundee Summer Sessions provides the perfect stage for their hotly anticipated return to Scotland next year.

The show will take place on Saturday 11th June at Slessor Gardens, situated on the iconic waterfront of the City of Discovery.

Geoff Ellis, DF Concerts CEO and Summer Sessions Promoter commented, “Dundee is the spiritual home of DF, having started here many moons ago, so we are delighted to return with Summer Sessions and bring some incredible music to the City. We are excited and extremely proud to announce Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds as the first ever headliner for Dundee Summer Sessions and we could not wish for a more iconic artist to launch the Festival.”

Mark Flynn, convener of Dundee City Council’s city development committee, said: “The success of the concerts that have been staged at Slessor Gardens so far, and its place as a fantastic venue to see bands of all types, has attracted interest from a wide variety of promoters.
“I am delighted to see the diary slots available for next summer filling up fast with top class acts like Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, that are bound to fire the public’s imagination and get them turning out in their thousands.”

Geoff Ellis continues, “Dundee is a City full of energy, creativity and ambition and so provides a perfect home for Summer Sessions and the quality of artists that will come to play the Festival.”

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will be supported by Inhaler, who are coming off the back of a fantastic 2021 having scored a number 1 for their debut album, “It won’t always be like this.” Their brand of soaring indie rock is perfectly suited to blow the crowd away in the wide-open space of Slessor Gardens. There will be more supporting artists added to the bill in the future.

More artists and dates still to be announced.
