BLUEWAVE – SUN TURTLE RECORDS

Bluewave, who boasts recent B-Side remix releases of Britain’s Got Talent Winner Jai McDowall’s Don’t Forget Who You Are and Ayrshire’s Emo Rock-Pop band DreamKids’ single Stay Safe With Me on his resumé is a current UWS MA Music student whose artist name reflects the retro subgenres and movements that he draws influence from. He was introduced to current Ayrshire College HND Sound Production student Dionne and the collaboration was born. Working remotely on the track in his home studio using Ableton Live, Bluewave was providing instrumental ideas before Dio Zelus would send voice clips with lyrical, melody and arrangement ideas creating a demo of what i want before meeting in person to capture the vocals in the studio and working to create a final mix.

Dio Zelus – SUN TURTLE RECORDS

Dio Zelus, whose name stems from the Greek Daemon that personifies dedication and passion embraces the idea of retrofuturism which shines through on the vocal delivery on what i want. Starting her artistic journey writing “crappy poems” at a young age, Dio Zelus went on to study Art and Sound Production before pathing a way for her musical career. Influenced greatly by women of the music industry, or a lack of, Dio Zelus is driven by the history of gender inequality, and is determined to make her mark on the music industry.  Lyrically, what i want reflects on Dio Zelus’ personal experiences when surrounded by intolerable people that have no self-awareness, and her tongue-in-cheek vocals are captured with her effortlessly, laid back performance.

“The exclusive first play of what i want. They are absolutely smashing it” – Phoebe IH, BBC Music Introducing in Scotland, BBC Radio Scotland 23rd October 2021
