The View’s resurgence ahead of the August 18th release of their long awaited new album ‘Exorcism of Youth’ gathers momentum as they today share their new single ‘Woman of the Year’. The band’s recent releases, ‘Feels Like’ and ‘Shovel In His Hands’, have reinvigorated their connection with their fans and earned major airplay including support from Jo Whiley at Radio 2 and Track of the Week at Amazing Radio.

The effervescent buzz of ‘Woman of the Year’ layers a newly refined edge upon the raggedly irrepressible melodic charm with which The View made their name. Yet underneath its cheeky, punky indie-pop pleasure is a lyric that Kyle Falconer wouldn’t have written the first time around: the moment of waking up and realising that someone’s love not only makes life worthwhile, but that they’re also committed enough to be willing to navigate your own shortcomings.

Kyle says, “I think everyone gets down sometimes and this song is supposed to show the struggles at both ends. I wanted to convey a message of thanks to all the women who help the men, the kids, the colleagues, friends etc. Especially when they feel underappreciated. Watching what they do every day, often without complaining… it’s an unsung hero type of job multitasking so many different factors each day. It’s something I’m often in awe of.”

When The View’s founder members – Kyle Falconer (vocals, guitar), Kieren Webster (bass, vocals) and Pete Reilly (guitar) – reunited last year, the reaction was far bigger than they had anticipated. Tickets for a show at the O2 Academy Glasgow sold-out so quickly that they soon added another three gigs, selling more than 10,000 tickets and receiving rapturous receptions each night. And when things go that well, it’s only natural to want more. They headed to Granada in Spain to work with the Grammy Award-winning Youth (The Verve, Jesus & Mary ChainThe Charlatans), and created the ‘Exorcism of Youth’ album which blends their early exuberance with the finesse that comes with experience. Most recently they’ve returned to the festival circuit with sets at the Neighbourhood Weekender and Darwen Live

‘Exorcism of Youth’ is available to pre-order or pre-save HERE. The band’s official store offers a variety of bundles, which include signed limited edition white vinyl and a four-track bonus CD, plus rare signed test pressings which are limited to just 50 copies.

The View’s catalogue of hits (‘Same Jeans’, ‘Wasted Little DJs’‘Superstar Tradesman’) and fan favourites (‘Grace’‘Shock Horror’, ‘5 Rebeccas’) really come to life during their electrifying live shows. The band’s summer gets going with TRNSMT and a Greenwich Summer Sounds show with Kaiser Chiefs, before they headline The Mighty Boof and play Victorious in August. Their first full UK headline tour in six years gets underway in November and culminates with a London show at the Scala. Tickets are available HERE

In addition, Kyle Falconer’s gig / theatre show ‘No Love Songs’ returns for a second run of shows at Dundee Rep Theatre from August 31st to September 9th. Tickets are available HERE
