Stryper is Calling on You in 2022

An Intimate Show with Stryper in Fort Lauderdale, Fl

Fort Lauderdale, FlStryper brings the Calling on You tour to the Culture Room on May 26, 2022.

The venue, a staple in the South Florida music scene for 25 years, is a great, intimate standing room only venue.

The Culture Room is a perfect venue to get up close and personal with Stryper and all those Soldiers Under Command”.  On this night, the Culture Room is the sanctuary and Stryper is at the pulpit!

The band takes the stage at 9 pm, after a long wait from the doors opening at 7:30 pm. No one seemed to mind the wait. Enough time to get a drink, buy a souvenir t-shirt and not have to worry about getting a good spot to see the show. Truth be told, unless you are standing outside in the courtyard, there really isn’t a bad spot to watch the show at the Culture Room.

The set opens with the title track to their Gold fourth release In God We Trust”. The band plays 19 tracks in all covering most of their albums over the years. Despite standing shoulder to shoulder, for a 90+ minute show of screaming Christian metal, fans can’t get enough of Stryper. There are many sing-along opportunities offered, especially during their crossover hit, “Honestly”.

Stryper’s lineup on this tour features Michael Sweet (vocals, guitar), his brother Robert Sweet (drums), Oz Fox (guitars) and Perry Richardson (bass). Band members each toss out New Testament Bibles with the Stryper logo on the cover during the course of the show. Michael takes a moment between songs to explain how earlier in their career, they would often find the Bibles left on the floor of empty venues post-show.

This was before they began placing the Stryper logo on the cover. Michael goes on to say that he hasn’t seen one left behind since the logo was added. Stryper wraps up the show with some pounding metal in the form of Yahweh”, “Soldiers Under Command” and the title track to their multi-platinum third album release, To Hell With the Devil”.

Overall, Stryper delivers rock-solid performance. It really is incredible to see how good the band sounds but even more so, how the vocal delivery of Michael Sweet is on target. 35+ years later and Stryper still sounds incredible. It is highly recommended you make it a point to see the show if it is coming anywhere near you.
