With only three weeks to go until Connect kicks off, Edinburgh’s new music festival is giving fans another exciting glimpse of what to expect from 26th – 28th August at the Royal Highland Centre Showgrounds. Releasing the highly anticipated set times for acts like IDLES, Jon Hopkins, The Chemical Brothers, The Twilight Sad, Little Simz and MORE.
Festival revellers can now start planning their epic Connect weekend well in advance on the Connect Festival App with fan favourite headliner Jon Hopkins set to take the stage at 21:30 on Friday night, closing out the first night with feel-good party beats and euphoric grooves. Saturday afternoon is non-stop good vibes, seeing 2022 Brit Rising Star winner Holly Humberstone take to the Grand Paradestage at 15:20, with her sizzling hot infusion of bittersweet piano ballads and anthemic trip pop quickly followed by Caribou and Glasgow’s own The Twilight Sad. Scottish hard rock legends Mogwai take to the stage at 19:35 on Sunday followed by The National at 21:15, bringing their cult favourite brand of moody, alt-rock to the Royal Highland Centre, closing out the weekend in glorious style.
Connect music festival makes its exciting Edinburgh debut from August 26 – 28th, uniting some of the most influential and pioneering names in music from around the world, with the very best of Scotland’s homegrown heroes. An event for music lovers, it boasts a star-studded line-up of Grand Parade heavyweights, exciting breakthrough acts over at the Guitar & Other Machines stage, DJ pioneers showcasing their blistering talent, sure to get everyone up on their feet dancing in the Unknown Pleasures tent, to some of the leading names on the UK comedy scene over at Speakeasy.

As the summer draws to a close, there’s no better feeling than singing along to your favourite songs with your pals. Scottish crowds are some of the best in the world and Connect is certainly looking to live up to that as 15,000 festival revellers prepare to descend on theRoyal Highland Centre Showgrounds for a weekend of non-stop good vibes and anthemic bangers. Boasting an eclectic line-up ranging from the trap infused 70s beats of rising star Little Simz who just last week was shortlisted for the prestigious Mercury Prize along with her Connect peers, Self Esteem and Jessie Buckley & Bernard Butler, the electropop mania of The Chemical Brothers, to a noughties indie rock throwback with crowd favourites Bombay Bicycle Club, there’s something for everyone.

Whether it be Glasgow East End’s own Joesef with his old soul and classic jazz vibrato, reminiscent of Amy Winehouse and Adele, or CMAT, who after a stand-out performance at this year’s TRNSMT festival, brings her confessional lyrics and Nashville inspired sound to the Royal Highland Centre. Swim School are set for a hometown show, describing themselves as “Tesco value Wolf Alice”, you can catch the Edinburgh natives on Saturday as they perform their indie rock bangers and emotionally charged anthems. Swing by the Guitars & Other Machines stage and catch many more acts including Idlewild, Admiral Fallow, Ride, LOW, Moses Boyd, LYRA.

Release your inhibitions at the Unknown Pleasures stage and dance the day away to some of the biggest names in electronic music. From Glasgow’s own TAAHLIAH, when she’s not serving up a perfect blend of hyper-pop and classic trap beats in Berlin, she’s in her hometown making a name for herself as a leading figure in the city’s underground LGBTQ+ scene. Witness icons of the industry, Horse Meat Disco, as the collective bring their unique makeshift DIY beats to the Connect stage. Be sure to check out Optimo (Espacio), as the cult legends celebrate 25 years of electronic excellence. There’s many more exciting acts on offer from Sam Gellaitry, Barry Can’t Swim, I.JORDAN, KILIMANJARO, Krystal Klear.
COMEDY & CONVERSATIONS
Over at the Speakeasy there will be a host of talent and conversation on show, from comedy acts sure to get the tent erupting in laughs, to artist Q&As with the likes of LVRA and Stuart Braithwaite & James Graham of Mogwai and The Twilight Sad. Friday welcomes the hosts of The Black Scot Pod, listen as Suzie and Shirley share heart-warming anecdotes of their childhoods growing up in Scotland, pop culture, current events, and everything in-between with plenty of banter and laughs in the mix. Award-winning comedian Mark Nelson is on hand, since winning the inaugural Scottish Comedian of the Year Award in 2006, his career has gone from strength to strength and his appearance at Connect is not to be missed.
