Dogtooth – All I See Is Grey (Single Launch)

Nice’n’Sleazy, Glasgow 29th October 2021

Looking at Dogtooth’s history you be forgiven of think these guys were in their 40’s rather than their early 20’s….with over 400 gigs under their belts, 3 times at the Barrowland Ballroom, The Cavern Club Liverpool, London….the list goes on and it shows in their tight live performances. Their melodic Indie style sets them apart from most other bands in Glasgow which pre-pandemic was seeing a resurgence of post punk genre bands and as a result the band found it hard to breakthrough in their hometown.  Not to be held back Dogtooth with help from a small army of fans and friends decided to do things their own way releasing several singles themselves…. Trying to Save You, double A sided Away/ What For, Cut, The Fear(Is Out to Get Us) and All I See is Grey from their upcoming EP.

Their hard work paid off and recently saw them sign to Run On Records/Modern Sky UK and the release of their first EP The Fear produced by Jamie Holmes & Johnny Madden(Baby Strange

All I See Is Grey is the 2nd track to be lifted from the EP with the first being The Fear (Is out To Get Us)

Nice’n’Sleazy in Glasgow is a cosy downstairs venue which has hosted a number of stalwarts of the Scottish music scene during their up formative up and coming phases …Mogwai, Belle and Sebastian to name a couple. Pre-pandemic the walls would be dripping with condensation and sweat, post pandemic there is an fresh feel as the aircon is on at full blast….strange but reassuring!!

Support for Dogtooth was given by The Streams and Primes, Dogtooth thundered onto the stage and opened with The Fear(is out to get us) which is even more powerful live as it is recorded and sets the scene nicely with the crowd ramming to the front almost on stage!!

Their set is crammed full of excellent songs but Cut, Fedz and the closing song and new single All I See Is Grey are stand out songs but the band despite this being their first gig in 20 months are tight and well-rehearsed with the charismatic frontman and singer dealing with a guitar malfunction eloquently , let’s hope they join that list of famous bands that have played Nice’n’Sleazy – Glasgow….they deserve it

The Future of Scottish music looks assured with bands such as Dogtooth flying the flag and generally being fucking excellent…..’mon The Dug’
