HEADLINE TOUR ANNOUNCED FOR JUNE

“Stellar songwriting with a fresh appeal, The Native’s work has transformed them into one of the country’s most sought after new groups.” – Clash

“Knowing exactly how to harness their indie powers, The Native fuel their frenzied supporters with each release and they know exactly how to impress.” – Earmilk

It’s a big week for fast rising indie heroes The Native. The band are currently embarking upon a major tour as guests to Bastille, which included a huge London show at London’s O2 last night. The band have also announced that they’ve signed a new deal with rock ‘n’ roll tastemakers This Feeling, which commences today with their brand new single ‘Blindside’. The track is the first song to preview their new EP, which will follow in the summer.

‘Blindside’ is a strident introduction to the band’s far-reaching potential. Crashing into life with a flood of insistent melody, the song also demonstrates both a fierce fortitude and marked melancholy, especially within the gritty expression of frontman Charlie Noordewier’s voice. The song’s breakdown will surely ignite future live shows too, as his rallying cry “I’m all used up, I don’t know why” then hurtles back into its main riff.

As with the rest of their upcoming EP, ‘Blindside’ was produced by the legendary John Cornfield (OasisMuseThe Stone Roses) and mixed by the Grammy Award-winning Adrian Bushby (Foo FightersMuseEverything Everything).

The Native’s roots date back to secondary school in PlymouthCharlie Noordewier and guitarist Ben Andrew started the project by releasing an ethereal indie-folk EP, and soon boosted the band with the addition of Tom Booth (bass) and Harry Youngs (keys). They only had one rehearsal together, before they were thrust into a local 8000 capacity show supporting Bastille as part of MTV’s Ocean City Sounds. That was followed with a headline gig at Plymouth Pavilions a mere week after they had finished their A-levels.

That was the moment they decided to take the band as far as they could. Meanwhile, the feral live energy of their live shows started to inspire a new exhilaration and propulsion to their music too. Inspired by the genre-defying single-mindedness of The 1975, the raucous anthems of Catfish and The Bottlemen, plus Coldplay’s anthemic power, The Native provoked interest and admiration with every release. Their rise continued through 2021’s self-released ‘In My Mind’ EP as well as recent singles from ‘Call Me Out’ to ‘Signals’. Their line-up also evolved with the addition of their new drummer Fergus Segrove

In addition to the remaining Bastille dates, listed below, The Native are also building up for a big summer festival schedule. They have so far confirmed Liverpool Sound City (May 1st), Sonic Wave (June 4th), Chagstock (July 22nd) and Gateways (July 24th) & have just announced a headline tour for June.
