Today, Dutch musician and visual artist known as Young & Sick has returned with a brand new single titled “ANGELS.” Listen to “ANGELS” everywhere now here

A lush, mid-tempo burner, the song features Montreal’s MUNYA and is the first taste of a forthcoming new album from Young & Sick titled BROTHER, set for a September 24 release via B3SCI Records.

Young & Sick wrote and recorded the album in a cabin in Vermont with his bandmate and longtime music director, Luke Woods, whose near-death touring accident inspired “ANGELS” and threads a subtle poignancy through the collection of songs that is BROTHER

On “ANGELS,” Young & Sick notes, “Saying what a song is about can be thorny. Explicating something that you had to claw from your subconscious is usually a clumsy affair, sometimes we have to approach ideas obliquely in order to address them all. It is much easier to say who the song is for and move on from there. So, let’s say this song is for our dumb-asses being alive, and then let’s say this song is about providence or grace.”

Over the past year, Young & Sick has established himself a pioneer in the audio/visual NFT space, legitimizing its burgeoning potential for visual artists and creators at-large. Notably, one week Young & Sick had the highest audio/visual resale NFT with his piece ‘In Doge We Trust.’

This spring, Young & Sick partnered with Goldflyer, a fundraising initiative spearheaded by Neon Gold Records, Venue Group and All Things Go, for an NFT fundraising campaign to benefit the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA). The effort raised $250K for struggling independent venues due to the COVID-19 pandemic. See coverage of the campaign by Variety.

The NIVA fundraiser featured NFT artwork designed by Young & Sick, with winning bids by artists including Shawn Mendes (Troubadour), Tove Lo (First Avenue), Dillon Francis (Neumos), Pabllo Vittar (9:30 Club) and Tycho (The Independent), all to give back to their favorite independent venues.

Young & Sick’s artwork will be showcased this September at Art Basel and he will do an NFT drop with Nifty Gateway featuring custom creative assets for new single “ANGELS” and the forthcoming BROTHER LP.

Catch Young & Sick live this September at Bonnaroo 2021.

About Young & Sick

Real name Nick van Hofwegen, Young & Sick is a Dutch multi-threat artist who hopes to make you dance a lot and cry a little as he croons to your soul.

Born in southern Holland, Nick attempted the traditional route of art through design school. He quickly dropped out due to its cookie-cutter leanings and soon after, by a crux of fate, comedian Andy Dick came across a piece of his art. Nick’s friend Mark Foster had introduced them about a week prior. Suddenly, Nick had his first client. Shortly after, Mark’s own band—a then little-known outfit by the name of Foster the People—asked Nick to do the artwork for their debut album Torches in 2011.

A prolific visual artist, Young & Sick has made original artwork for partners like Bonnaroo Festival, President Obama & the White House Creative Alliance, Foster The People, Burton, The FADER, Rag & Bone, Mikky Ekko, T. Mills, Skrillex, MeUndies, Pringles, Fergie, and many more.

Young & Sick released his last EP project, Size of Relief, in 2018 viaNeon Gold Records / B3SCI Records. Since his 2014 self-titled debut album, Young & Sick has played live alongside artists like Chance The Rapper and The Knocks, was featured in an Apple Watch ad here, and has played festivals including CoachellaAustin City Limits, and SXSW.
