After the success of their first collaboration, what i want,  in November 2021, that saw Saltcoats based Electronic Producer Bluewave (Daniel Beattie, 26) and Kilmarnock singer-songwriter Dio Zelus (Dionne Aird, 22) receive national airplay on BBC Introducing in Scotland as well as spending weeks on Amazing Radio’s A-List Playlist, the duo have teamed up again after signing a multiple-single deal with Ayrshire College’s Indie label Sun Turtle Records, who are ready to release their latest single, lullaby, a smooth, late 80’s / early 90’s R & B / Dance inspired summer anthem on June 10th 2022.

The self-produced single adopted a similar recording and production process to their previous hit by sending each other short audio clips back and forth via messenger, bouncing off each other’s ideas, suggestions and piecing together a final demo version before recording the vocals on location at Studio G54 in Ayrshire College. lullaby, mastered by David McAulay (King Creosote, Mogwai) is layered with subtle, pretty melodies and funk infused guitars while maintaining its rhythmic intent and would not be out of place should there ever be a reworked soundtrack of GTA’s Vice City

Lyrically, lullaby reflects on Dio Zelus’ personal experiences surrounding relationships with themes of co-dependency and a lack of boundaries. Confronting feelings of being silenced and mistreated within close connections Dio Zelus channels her message with enlightenment, breaking away from old patterns and relations that are no longer positively serving. Her vocal delivery is packed with raw emotion wearing her heart on her sleeve; “I’m on the tightrope… weeping for all my attention”.“They are absolutely smashing it” – Phoebe IH, BBC Music Introducing in Scotland

“Bright and summery” – Tallah Brash, The Skinny
