Dreams Can Change The World
Ian Donaldson single out 5th July
In October 2024, Ian Donaldson is set to release brand new album Dreams From Tenement Land with The LNFG Cartel. First single Dreams Can Change The World is released digitally on 5th July. Ian Donaldson shares the story behind the track below:
“Punk happened while I was still at high school. It was raw, rebellious and irresistible. Unlike today, Glasgow was a grim place in ’76 and punk was the perfect opportunity to form a band to create something, say something and above all do something. The song is about all of that, and how, many years later I still believe in the power of music.
The single cover is a photo of H20’s first gig at a CND Rally in Elder Park Govan. It is the only image of Alan McGhee on bass, Davie Wells on guitar and me on vocals. I found it in a box in a cupboard, didn’t remember I had it. And it re-emerged when I needed it. I don’t believe in coincidences. No one has seen the image. Not even Alan or Davie. It will make them smile, I’m sure.”
Ian Donaldson rose to fame in the 1980s as founder and frontman of new wave band H20. In 2018, Ian released his debut solo album From Stars We Came, celebrated with two sold out gigs in Glasgow. Upcoming album Dreams From Tenement Land is a snapshot of Ian’s life, and embodies the excitement of growing up the eras of punk, glam and Bowie. It reflects on the universal experiences of heartache and loss, beautifully paired with the joy of living.
Dreams Of Tenement Land is released on Eco vinyl, CD and digital in 18thOctober.
Further singles and album launch details to be announced shortly.
