One of the most noticeable things about Rebellion Punk Festival over the last few years, is the amount of amazing bands from Asia and the Far East. The Rumkicks, Dummy Toys, HellCity and 18 Fevers have all graced the Blackpool stages like a breath of fresh air, proving that punk really isn’t dead. For some of these artists, just being punks is one of the most subversive and dangerous things they can do, in the face of both public and regime opinion.
Little by little these bands have returned to Europe and the UK for mini tours, enabled by the friendships and contacts they’ve made from previous visits. As I write this I’m preparing to go off and see the excellent Dummy Toys, four girls from Qinhgdao, China at The Salty Dog in Northwich.
Now news has reached me that South Korean punks 18 Fevers are heading for these shores for a couple of dates in their own right, ahead of their 2nd appearance at this years Rebellion. Last year’s set on the Rebellion Introducing Stage, was one of my festival highlights, so I’m doubly excited to be able to see more of them in 2024.
More news shortly about ticket details and line-ups. Please note the 26th July date is the Moseley Punk Festival which begins at 3pm.
