FOOD VENDOR STARTS TRNSMT WEEKEND WITH NEWBORN ARRIVAL AS FANS BASKED IN SUNSHINE FOR DAY 2
The sun is splitting the skies as Saturday brought out music fans to TRNSMT.
Scotland’s biggest music festival drew thousands to Glasgow Green for a packed day of incredible music and summer vibes.
Here are some of the highlight stories from fans out and about at the festival today.
Pasta truck’s big arrival
Jude Smith, 35, from Uddington will forever remember his TRNSMT debut. Just hours ahead of opening his pasta truck ‘Sonny’s’, Jude and wife Lauri welcomed their baby girl to the world, who was born at 5.45am.
The pasta station inspired by his two-year-old son, Sonny, began serving fresh Italian dishes in the VIP area from midday on Friday, with Jude only running on a few hours sleep.
Jude said: “My wife (Lauri) was a week overdue, she went into labour at 1am on Friday, we had our wee baby girl who was born at 5.45am yesterday morning.
“So on Thursday [the night before opening] I stayed up all night and then had to come in here on Friday, done a full shift. I think I’ve had 6 hours of sleep in the past threedays. I’m running on empty but it’s all been worth it.
“Everyone’s healthy, they’ve just been released from the hospital today. I was there first thing this morning ‘visiting’.”
Despite the lack of sleep, Jude says he’s buzzing with his first TRNSMT experience, with fans tucking into specials, including a popular beef ragu option.
Jude who also works in the Govan shipyards, only launched his business in January and has served local events in Uddingston.
He added: “It’s been an absolute whirlwind. I’ll always remember this one.
“This is worth it man, it’s some buzz – the sun’s out.
“We’ve not got a name yet, we’re open to suggestions. I’ve been looking at the TRNSMT line-up for some inspiration, I quite liked the sound of Brogeal for a wee girl – but then everybody would just spend her full life asking ‘what does it mean?’
“Anytime I suggest one to my wife – she says no. She’s not taking Kasabian either.
He joked, “It’s impeccable timing. I started this in January, mostly we’re based in Uddingston, we work in different festivals.
“We do local clubs, we’re doing Summer Sessions, doing a big music festival.”
Enjoying the sunshine and karaoke
Lucas Flaherty, 22, was at the festival with pals, Olivia and Alfie, in their 20s from East Kilbride.
Lucas said: “We’ve seen some great acts over the past two days. We loved Nile Rodgers last night, we were all dancing, the songs were great. It was something different.
“It’s great to see the sun out today, looking forward to seeing Brogeal. Just relaxing and having a great time.
“The Rooks were brilliant, they had friends and family trying to get folk to go over and see them. They had an early set on King Tut’s but they rocked it.”
The pals were all trying to get their hands on a coveted Pepsi MAX bucket hat, on offer at a special karaoke pop-up.
Lucas added: “We’ve been four times to win a bucket hat, but we’ve not had any luck yet.”
