Coral Springs, Fl – Rock N Roll Ribs anniversary party returned to Coral Springs on December 4, 2021, after a two year hiatus due to the Covid pandemic. The restaurant, owned by Iron Maiden drummer Nicko Mcbrain, is a must see spot for true fans of the band. The afternoon is filled with great music from several bands as well as many comedic quips by Nicko himself who serves as emcee for the event. The event is also a fundraiser, whose benefactor this year is Big Dog Ranch Rescue.
The venue, nestled away in the suburban community of Coral Springs, Fl is an Iron Maiden fan favorite. Per the restaurant’s Facebook page, they are combining 45 years of Rock N Roll music with a love for BBQ. Their catch phrase; “Where BBQ meets Metal“. The food is good, the Trooper beer is great and there is plenty of Iron Maiden memorabilia to view along the restaurant walls. The menu is quite entertaining with many of the many items having a reference to an Iron Maiden song or album.
The event, now in its 12th year, brings fans from all over to hang out and party with Nicko for the day. An Iron Maiden Fan Club member drove down from Ohio just to attend this event. The event has grown significantly over the years from a tiny tent in the parking lit in its beginning to a tent consuming half the parking lot in its latest incarnation. Nicko is very personable and responsive to his fans. This is apparent when a fan offers him a small stuffed Sooty bear dressed in a Trooper outfit. Nicko proceeds to have a conversation with Sooty onstage and shares the Sooty story with the fans and explaining why there is always a Sooty sitting over his bass drum at every Iron Maiden show.
The event kicks off at noon with performances by students from the Coral Springs School of Rock. They may be young, but man, can they rock! Students are relayed on and off the stage as the song selection changes. These kids truly have a passion for music.
The School of Rock is followed by a metal-fueled musical afternoon with bands playing both covers of classic metal and rock music as well as some originals. The bands performing on this day include Children of the Grave, Angels of War, Made of Metal, Kinlin and Nicko’s own Iron Maiden tribute band, Titanium Tart.
The anniversary party, the first in two years, is a great return to live music experience. Pair that with the great BBQ at Rock N Roll Ribs, and you have a win / win situation. Fans are not disappointed and eagerly wait the next 364 days for the 13th anniversary part of Rock N Roll Ribs!
